Gabriela Steel is currently studying a BA (Hons) Fashion Design course and completing her final collection. Gabriela has always been interested in textile design, from studying media makeup and textiles in school to now doing a Fashion Design Degree. She enjoys new ways to create fabrics, texture and shape.

Gabriela’s final collection is a self-portrait collection based on her personal tastes; taking inspiration from her surroundings such as bedroom interior, as well as her favourite colours to create her colour palette. From an art and textile background Gabriela wanted to bring this forward into her final collection, for example within her illustrations and her designs. Along with taking inspiration from Gabriela’s life, she wanted to mix this with the idea of daydreams and once in a life time moments. For this Gabriela collected photographs from over the years of specific moments that made her feel alive; from these she has taken elements that has inspired her choice of fabrics. This has also given her collection name of ‘REVERIE’ which means ‘a state of being pleasantly lost in one's thoughts; a daydream.’

After graduating Gabriela would like to spend some time working on building her own brand and creating more of her own designs. Gabriela would also like to work my way up in the design industry and gain more experience and skills, starting with a placement in Peacocks over the summer.
